I saw you that day
but something was different
Yes, I had things to say,
and yet, I couldn’t.
The atmosphere was electric,
and I was too spent.
“There’s someone else,” you say.
A single drop, falling from heaven
and a dream was slain
my soul, now shattered
Will I ever be whole again?
Went out for a smoke
Unable to process, unable to cope.
What do you see in them,
why can it not be me?
could he write you a poem,
or see you the way I see?
Life does throw dirt at us
we all stumble at times
But I don’t understand
Am I not enough?
Will I ever be enough again?
My heart pounding,
as I couldn’t breathe
(couldn’t think either).
My grief knowing no bar,
should I go to bed,
At this early hour?
As I dissolve into the sheets
and rest my mind on the ceiling,
the pain eats me from within.
Will I ever wake up again?
Yet, I did,
much to my disappointment.
A shattered soul seeks salvation,
mine, however, looked for you.
Along with aspirations and dreams
something else dead was my happiness.
I lived, I breathed, I let it rain on me.
The question remained,
will I ever be happy again?
“Find someone else,” you said
“We aren’t meant to be”
But I was still willing to fight,
to change your mind.
Although I knew,
I had to leave.
I look for you,
in everyone that I see.
What is it that I seek?
I don’t know, but
will I ever love again?
